i’d have to say any psu over 600W is good, i think any psu would fit on any board in my opinion.

I don’t quite understand the question. Since you have a generic case, the physical PSU itself won’t be a problem, unless you went with something 1000W+ which would be overkill and expensive, plain and simple.
As for wattage, I’d say 750W is a safe bet. More than enough to power a single 8800, and with room to spare if you ever want to SLI in the future. I use a Cooler Master 750W PSU and it runs my 8800GT with no issues, and it’s SLI rated which is a reassurance.
Make sure your PSU comes with at least two 6 pin PCIe plugs and a couple of 8 pins as well, since you don’t know what you’ll be buying in the future, and I’ve heard talk that the 8-pin is set to replace the 6-pin.
Better to do your homework now so that you won’t be left with an incompatible PSU in a year like I was.
Oh, and I have an XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog edition card, and it’s a good buy, I fully recommend the card you are thinking of getting. It doesn’t look as sexy as an 8800GTS or Ultra, but it gets the job done for much cheaper. Then again, we’d all take an Ultra if we could get one lol.
