Is it safe to use a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT on my computer?
tan asked:
- Gigabyte GA-8I915P-D Motherboard
- 1.5Gb RAM
- Intel Pentium 4 640 3.2Ghz
Or how about a 8600 GT?

Safe? Well, nothing will happen that would be considered unsafe. I mean, it won’t hurt you or the board.
The real question you need to figure out is: will your power supply handle it? Does it put out enough voltage/amps as requested by the manufacturer? Some, like EVGA, require specific amperages. Check out the specs and manual first by going to the manufacturer’s website to see if you need a specific power supply.

It is best to check the system requirements on the video card… you will need to have the proper slot (i.e. PCI Express) available on your motherboard, but most importantly you need to make sure that your power supply supplies enough wattage to drive the card. This is especially important in SLI configurations.

if safe yes, but is it effective to your computer?
to get full performance 8800GT you need :
power full PSU (i suggest min. 450w)
2 GB RAM
C2D processor
8600GT same issues with 8800GT
